Great Makeup Trends for 2014

Ah makeup, a girl’s next best friend, after diamonds.  Today I’ll talk about three makeup trends for 2014 (especially now, yes – this month!), as seen in various events, on the runway and on the faces of some of the biggest stars all over the world. And of course, we’ll talk about how you can capture that look with the help of natural and organic makeup from Alexami.

As Seen In The Cannes Festival

I came across this really cool article from Vogue that analysed the looks of most actresses during the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. What I love more was how he categorised the looks by nationality or by country, and our contingent included the lovely faces of Naomi Watts, Cate Blanchett and Nicole Kidman. Guess what was common for the three of them? Fresh faces!

They all had that simple fresh faced look which was rather laid back and elegant at the same time. Get that look by starting off with a clean face. Then apply a small amount of our Hydrating Primer, and follow up with the best selling Mineral Foundation Powder in the shade that matches your skin. A swipe of blush should give you a very slight glow and then a hint of Mahogany or Terracotta eyeshadow.  Put on our Herbal Mascara and finish off with the bronze or clear Vegan Lip Gloss for a barely there look. Put your hair up to a side swept ponytail and you’re ready to go!

Straight from the Chanel 2014 – 2015 Autumn And Winter Look

Here’s another lovely look from the Chanel Autumn/Winter ‘14/’15 show – bright eyes, lovely cheeks and demure lips for a very wearable and chic look you can pull off anytime.

Start with a basic face using Alexami’s Mattifying Effect Primer and Matte Effect Foundation. Be sure to choose a foundation that’s very close to your skin color. For the eyes, start with a pearl white base or any other light colour from our Mineral Eyeshadow line. Then, take an angled brush and apply a bright or heavily pigmented colour of your choice (we like candy pink, violet, red plum and deep blue) by starting halfway along the lashes up to the outer corner of your eye. Blend well. Match this with a pop of color on the cheeks and a little bit of bronzer under the cheekbones and finish off with clear or light gloss for demure lips. Dust the face with Translucent Setting Powder to keep makeup in place. Apply mascara to complete the look.

Glowing Beauty by Naeem Khan Fall 2014

This lovely trend makes use of highlighter or illuminating powder for a glowing effect. This one is a very quick look and is a great choice if you’re on the go.

Start with a basic face, using your choice of primer and foundation from Alexami. The Perfect Puff Minerals Foundation is a small, compact foundation that you can use anytime and anywhere. Then, apply a very slight amount of blush on the cheeks. To get that glow, use the Mineral Illuminating Powder in Gold to apply on the top of the cheeks and on the eyelids, as well as on top of your cupid’s bow to accentuate the curve of your lips. Finish off with a coat of mascara and dark lipstick.

Here are three makeup trends you can easily do with our mineral makeup, and they’re sure to impress anyone wherever you go. Have fun!
